“Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did.” —Unknown

In 2003 I was chosen as one of the forty
most influential businesspeople under age forty by the Business
Journal. There was a newspaper supplement that featured
a 300-word interview with each of us. The gist of the interview
was, “What is your key to success?” The bold headline
below my name read: “coffee, perseverance and faith.” I have
always believed that perseverance is a vital component to realizing
success in any aspect of life. Those who reach their goals
and their dreams refuse to give up. There are many stories that
illustrate this point: the story of Edison’s many “failures” prior
to successful inventions; Colonel Sanders knocking on 620
doors before finding an investor at door 621. When we believe
in our venture and ourselves, we refuse to settle for less than
we deserve.

Your Turn:
What drives you? Is it being the best mom you can be? The
best wife? Do you have an unrealized dream of writing a
book, winning a competition, or starting a business? What
is your passion? Take a moment to evaluate what is most
important to you. Then persevere, and allow that dream to
become a reality.

Today’s Affirmation:
I persevere until I reach the dreams closest to my heart.
